 Top 10 Dog Parks in Michigan

Dogs are members of our family. They are our best friends. So of course, we’ve built places just for them; dog parks. Watch your dog interact with other dogs, chase each other, jump through obstacles, roll around in the dirt, and jump into the lakes here in Michigan. Afterall, dogs are pack animals, and in many ways likes us, crave social interaction. We figured what better way to explore why we love living in Michigan than to explore the top 10 dog parks in Michigan.

1. Orion Oaks Dog Park

1200 Joslyn Rd. Lake Orion, Michigan 48360

Located in northern Oakland County this park 24 acres of fenced in fun. There are two walking trail, picnic areas, massive fields, and access to Lake Sixteen for Dog Only swimming. The lake has easy ramps for the dog to get in and out, but many dogs just prefer to jump in and make a splash.

2. Quincy Dog Park

4260 144th Ave. Holland, Michigan 49424

With 5 acres of fenced in park there is plenty of space for both a big dog and little dog section. Wearing a leash is optional so your dogs can run freely. There are walking paths, tables, benches, drinking fountains and dog bowls.

Here you can feel safe, as this park is under 24 hour video surveillance.

3. Midtown Dog Park

401-439 W. Canfield St Detroit, Michigan 48201

This park made the list not because it’s a huge park (rather the opposite) but because of it unique urban location surrounded by historic buildings and homes within walking distance. This park is also an off leash park so your fur-babies can play freely. The turf field helps encourage owners to pick up after their dog so the ground is almost always clean.

4. Wahfield Dog Park

6811 Alpine Ave. NW, Comstock Park, Michigan 49321

This dog park has some of Michigan’s best dog park trials. With ups and downs of rolling hills to areas of sunshine and areas of wooded shade. You can even stop by the creek that run through the area. This dog park does require your little one to be on a leash, but that currently should be a deterrent for you. This is a fantastic Michigan dog park.

Make sure to bring your kids too, there’s a playground waiting for them as well.

5. Steve A. Kirshenbaum Bark Park

3495 Midland Rd. Saginaw, Michigan 48603

Located inside of Imerman Memorial Park, which has trials you can walk with your best friend. While walking the main park you need to keep your dog on the leash. If you want to get off-leash you can in the enclosed Bark Park where your best friend can play freely.

6. Markey Dog Park

5216-5516 N Markey Rd. Roscommon, Michigan 48653

With a large fenced in area and pavilion for you and the family, this is a great dog park your four legged friend will enjoy. This park has multiple obstacles your friend can jump over, run under, slalom around, and a plenty of water bowls to quench thirst.

7. Lyon Oaks Park

52221 Pontiac Trail Rd. Wixom, Michigan 48393

Located on 13 acres fenced in, this Michigan dog park also has an enclosed area for little dogs too. This is the area designated for off leash activity. But wait there’s more…

This dog park is inside of over 1000 acres of Enironmental preservation. So you can come back with your dog on the leash and never walk the same route twice. With a playground for your little humans, bike trails, walking paths, recreation areas, sporting fields and more. This park will end up being an all day event if you let it.

8. Prairie View Dog Park

899 East U Ave. Kalamazoo, Michigan 49097

This park is one of the newer parks on this list of Top 10 Michigan Dog parks. You and your dog will have plenty of space to run around in a 7 acre fenced in off-leash area. With walking paths that include shady areas in the woods with open areas for sunshine this park will be one of your favorite if you are living or visiting the west side of Michigan.

9. Grand Circus Dog Park

2-98 E Adams Ave. Detroit, Michigan 48226

Another Detroit dog park, but this time in the heart of Downtown Detroit. Located in the history Grand Circus park, and within walking distance to the masonic temple and other beautiful and history skyrises. You certainly won’t get bored here and your best friend will have plenty of opportunities to sniff around.

This Dog park is one of the most interaction dog parks you can visit with multiple events held for your best friend all year. Canine Karaoke, a Dog Halloween costume party, a Doggy Prom, and of course a singles mingles. FYI the singles mingles is for you, not your dog.

This Dog park is open all year around, everyday from 6am-10pm. Come on by.

10. Woofhaven Dog Park

23101 Hall Rd. Woodhaven, Michigan 48183

Arguably the best park if we were voting on the cleverest play of words. Woofhaven dog park is a staple in the Woodhaven community. While this dog park isn’t open to the public and is a membership only dog park, it is in our opinion of the best parks if you’re in the downriver community. This is a 2 acre fenced in park with seperate areas for both large and small dogs to enjoy in peace.
